Green Design Strategies

Text Box: Technology is advancing in many areas including architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. ’Green’ friendly technologies are no exception. With the growing concerns of the ecological impact we have on or planet, we need to be conscious that new buildings exist in harmony with our delicate planet. Environmentally conscious designs do not have to be expensive or difficult to use. Well planed ‘Green’ strategies make use of various technologies and when implemented, create structures and buildings that are not only functional to the end user, but are an integral part of the ecosystem. However, technology without intelligent design is not effective. ‘Green’ design strategies only work when the consulting team; Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical design members collaborate seamlessly to create intelligent designs. Teradi Consulting Ltd. prides itself on working as a integral member of the design team, providing a high level of attention to detail and coordination to produce designs that are of the highest caliber.

· It takes 714lbs of coal to produce enough electricity to power one 100W light bulb for and entire year.

· Among industrialized and developing countries, Canada consumes per capita the most energy in the world, the United Sates ranks second, and Italy consumes the least among industrialized countries.

· On average, 16 million tons of carbon dioxide are emitted into the atmosphere every 24 hours by human use worldwide. (U.S. Department of Energy)

· About 81 tons of mercury are emitted into the atmosphere each year as a result of electric power generation. Mercury is the most toxic heavy metal in existence. (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency)

· Fossil fuels are depleted at a rate that is 100,000 times faster than they are formed

· Approximately 30,000 lives are cut short in the U.S. each year due to pollution from electricity production. (ABT Associates study)
